Payroll doesn’t stand still — and right now, it’s moving faster than ever.

Between changing compliance requirements, the reality of pay transparency, and everything else going on in the world, payroll teams are being pulled in more directions than ever before. It’s not just about “getting people paid” anymore — it’s about navigating risk, expectation, and constant change.

That’s why we’re bringing people together. Our GPA Symposium focuses on real-world payroll challenges, practical insight, and what’s actually changing — cutting through theory to focus on what matters.

Session Two

Cross-border compliance in a world of tech and AI, and balancing global standardisation with local flexibility

Hiring across borders is easier than ever, but payroll remains complex. While AI and automation promise a "universal" solution, they often struggle with local tax laws and regional quirks.

This session explores how to use modern tech to scale your business globally without tripping over local compliance rules.

We will cover:

  • Human + AI: Why automation needs expert oversight to handle local exceptions
  • Global vs. Local: How to build a payroll system that works everywhere but respects local laws.Staying Safe:
  • Managing risk when technology moves faster than government regulations.

Presenters: Vic Thatcher, Director, Product Strategy & Compliance at Remote

Session One

When Pay Transparency = a lack of clarity!

With the Pay Transparency deadline fast approaching, organisations are under increasing pressure to ensure they are ready — not just from a compliance perspective, but from a reputational, operational, and cultural one. Achieving this is increasingly challenging considering the progress (or lack of) being made by governments in confirming their local laws and the increasing number delay and postponement notices! All of which, combines to mean that the regulatory landscape across the EU is one of confusion and chaos!  Regardless of the state of the regulations, Pay Transparency represents a landmark shift in how organisations manage and share sensitive data. Comparisons have been made to the introduction of GDPR, but is that comparison accurate — or does this go even further?

In this session, Stuart Hyland will cut through the chaos and focus on what payroll, HR, and reward teams really need to have in place now. From data accuracy and reporting readiness to pay equity analysis, employee communications, and regulatory risk, Stuart will explore where organisations are most exposed — and what happens if you get it wrong.

We’ll also challenge the assumption that this is “just another compliance exercise.” Because unlike GDPR, Pay Transparency has the potential to directly impact employee trust, brand reputation, and internal culture in a far more visible way.

With just weeks to go, this is your opportunity to sense-check your readiness, understand the real consequences of inaction, and ensure you’re not the one caught out.

Session Three

Global Payroll in a Shifting World: Risk, Reality & Readiness
Global payroll has always been complex — but today, it’s operating in a world that’s changing faster than most organisations can keep up with. From geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty to evolving compliance demands and cross-border workforce models, payroll is increasingly on the front line of global disruption.

We’ll move beyond headlines and into real-world impact — exploring how global events are affecting payroll operations, payments, compliance, and workforce strategy on a day-to-day basis. Where are the biggest risks? What’s already changing? And where are organisations still exposed without realising it?

Bringing together experts across payroll, payments, and compliance, this panel will share honest insights, lived experiences, and practical strategies to help you navigate uncertainty with confidence.

Because in a shifting world, payroll isn’t just about keeping up — it’s about being ready.

Panellist: Jonny Nash, Global Head of Payroll and Pension Payments at Navro
Will Jackson, CEO & Founder, The Leppington Group
Simon Puryer,  Executive Practice Lead, Lace Partners
